Inspired by the Michael Lewis bestseller Moneyball, the interactive bar charts below let you compare two team's effectiveness in spending its money over the years at different positions.

To generate the charts, please select your two favorite teams that you want to compare metrics against. After the charts are generated, you can click anywhere on the charts to toggle between "stacked" and "separated" bar charts, which lets you see how each team allocates its money.

The color shading of each bar indicates how well the money was spent at each position. We use the Wins Above Replacement (WAR) statistic as the measurement of player effectiveness, which lets us compare pitchers and batters together to see how many wins they add/subtract to a team.
